How long does mediation take?   As a general rule, clients can spend between five and twelve hours working with a family mediator, depending on the number of issues and complexities of the case and assuming that they decide to mediate the full length of the process.

Sessions are usually 1 ½ - 2 hours duration and may take place over a series of weeks or sometimes months. Clients decide when they will next meet and, together with the mediator, for what purpose. Clients need time between sessions to get together the necessary information about finances and some also need time to reflect on the process and the issues that it may have raised for them. Some situations are more complex than others. Susan will discuss with you the estimated number of sessions at the outset.
